I’ve been experimenting with IFF Orivone while working on a recreation of Guerlain’s Bois d’Arménie, and I’ve been genuinely impressed with the material.
Orivone brings a beautiful, refined iris effect with a soft, powdery-woody character that fits remarkably well into this type of composition. What I particularly like is its ability to give an elegant, slightly dry iris facet while blending seamlessly into the woody and ambery aspects of the formula.
In my trials, it has been a very useful tool for building the smooth, understated iris character I was looking for in my Bois d’Arménie recreation. It doesn’t dominate the composition, but instead adds that subtle sophistication and texture that helps tie the woods and powdery notes together.
For anyone working with iris accords or exploring woody, ambery compositions, I think Orivone is a material well worth experimenting with. It has quickly become one of the materials I’m enjoying working with.
